Description
Somewhere in ocean shallows, a group of sea turtles swims through a tight passageway between underwater rocks. Seaweed and urchins cover the rocky walls of the aquatic canyon, while bubbles rise to the surface from the deep. Meanwhile, rays of sunlight cut through the water, broken by the rippling surface of the sea above. The five ancient sea creatures swim slowly and majestically towards the viewer through the natural alley in the blue undersea world.
I've been wanting to make another aquatic image for some time now but wasn't sure what I wanted for a primary subject. However, I got one of those Tervis mugs as a gift, and it was decorated with sea turtles. I liked the way it looked, so I decided to make my own turtle themed artwork.
About how I create my artwork:
Rather than traditional forms of art such as painting or photography, I use a computer to create my images., It's called 3D Rendering and works like so: I make a scene by sculpting and arranging digital models in a virtual 3D space., After stipulating lighting and atmospheric effects, I have the computer create a simulated environment from which I take a virtual snap shot of the scene. Then, using image editing software and something more akin to traditional painting techniques (via a Wacom tablet), I go over the work adjusting colors, adding brushwork, painting in details, etc. to produce the final image. Software I use includes: Sculptris ZBrush, Blender3d, Vue, Daz Studio, and GIMP.
Thanks for looking!
