Description
"A One Sided Conversation"
This is an impressionist style portrait of a woman with brown hair and green eyes holding a skull in her right hand. She wears a brown dress hand has her hair tied so that it drapes over her shoulder. She looks into the eyes of the skull as if examining every detail. Perhaps, like Hamlet with the skull of Yorick, the sight of the skeletal item has given her pause to ponder the inevitability of death.
This image really started for me as something with which to test out variations in lighting. For this particular scene, I was trying to get a dramatic low key lighting setup. I liked it, but as a straight 3D render it was a bit cold still. So I decided to run it through Topaz Impression to give it the look of an oil painting.
Even though the scene is reminiscent of Shakespeare’s hamlet, the actual inspiration for this scene was Artemisia Gentileschi's "Judith and her Maidservant" which I liked for its lighting.
Thanks for looking,
Daniel
